Call summary

Welcome to the weekly call focused on capabilities of the Microsoft 365 platform. In this particular call, we highlighted recently announced and key existing resources as well as latest samples, project releases, news, community events and three demos.

New this week

Demos

  • Latest on Microsoft Graph Data Connect datasets - REST APIs, Connectors and Data Connect make up the Graph Ecosystem.  Data Connect enables bulk data access for insights and analytics.  Data is stored in Azure Data Factory or Azure Synapse.  Reviewed 9 data sets recently released, 2 more to be released soon and 7 in the Backlog.  Briefly covered Azure Synapse integration and quick demo of the Synapse Copy Data Tool (wizard).
  • Extending Teams apps to Outlook and Office.com – the first in a series of application extensibility demos.  Microsoft is delivering on an Ignite commitment to enable you to build a personal app once and expose it across hosts – Teams, Outlook, Office.com.   In this session, modify a simple Teams app to run across hosts.  Two changes - update manifestVersion to “m365DevPreview” and reference “v2.0.0.beta.2” teams-js in package json.   Hub specific code addressed in future demo.
  • Graph Connectors updates and Postman samples - use Graph Connectors to get and surface external data in native Microsoft 365 experiences like search - GA, intelligent discovery, compliance, Viva Topics, and context IQ – in development, and People – in Preview.  Recent platform updates include Schema Updates API, new AAD permissions and simplified ACL.  Upcoming work described, see Graph connector search demo and finally step through how and why build a connector using Postman.

The host of this call was Brian T. Jackett (Microsoft) | @BrianTJackett.  Q&A takes place in chat throughout and live at end of the call.
