Women For Technical Talks (W4TT) is tackling one of tech’s biggest challenges – the industry’s persistent gender gap.
The women’s community group recently held their Anfitrionas Conference, Spain’s seminal event for women looking to make their mark as future speakers and thought leaders in the tech community.
Held in November, the goal of the conference is to boost female talent in IT through a round of discussions and keynotes, and this year’s conference (following two difficult years due to the pandemic) was wildly successful.
The numbers speak for themselves: Anfitrionas Conference hosted more than 40 talks across six tracks, in which 12 new female experts provided their expert advice for the first time.
And this is the main objective of the conference—“Anfitrionas” means “Hosts” in Spanish, in reference to prominent female speakers opening the door to rookies looking to make their mark as future tech thought leaders.
The endeavor is the brainchild of Office Apps & Services MVP Yolanda Cuesta, who founded W4TT in 2019. The group is committed to the participation of other female MVPs in the Spanish-speaking community and counts more than 600 followers on LinkedIn.
Ana María Bisbé, Elena Salcedo or Inés Pascual (among others) are three of the MVPs who work within W4TT to help host monthly meetings. Here, female members of the tech community provide masterclasses on how to sharpen public speaking and soft skills necessary to excel in the Spanish IT ecosystem.
Additionally, Yolanda has done much to connect women in Spain with prominent tech programs like Global Azure Bootcamp, Power Platform Bootcamp and Bizz Summit to better platform female experts.
Together with other local pilot initiatives, W4TT is proud to report that the number of women involved in the Spanish tech ecosystem has grown consistently over the past two years.
