Virtual Machine restore points
This week we announced the public preview of VM restore point, a new resource that stores VM configuration and a point-in-time snapshot of one or more managed disks attached to a VM. VM restore points supports multi-disk application consistent snapshots and can be leveraged to easily capture backups of your VM and disks. You can easily restore the VM using VM restore points in cases of data loss, corruption, or disasters.
We also introduced a new Azure Resource Manager (ARM) resource called Restore Point Collection, which will act as a container for all the restore points of a specific VM.

Log Analytics experience improvements.
It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of log analytics. It under pins so many great services in Azure and the Log Analytics team continues to fine tune and improve the experiences.
The improvements include:
- Side bar improvements
- When you open a new tab, the side bar will remember settings for filter and group by from your last tab and simply carry them over to the new tab.
This allows for a continuous work experience keeping the context of your work when you open new tabs.
- When you open a new tab, the side bar will remember settings for filter and group by from your last tab and simply carry them over to the new tab.
- Select the behavior of double clicking a query
- You can now choose the behavior of double clicking in the side bar.
- You can configure a double-click a table name in the sidebar to either run a query, or add the table name to the query editor,
- You can configure a double-click a query in the sidebar to either add it to the existing tab or to load each query to a new tab.
- You can now choose the behavior of double clicking in the side bar.
- Use Keyboard shortcuts to save a query
- Another improvement we introduced is using the CTRL+S keyboard shortcut to save a query.
These improvements are driven by customer feedback. So, keep on providing the feedback we will continue to improve the experience.
